Christening Outfit Shadowbox

Do you have your child’s Christening Dress in a box or hung in your closet?
Well, how about displaying it in your child’s bedroom or presenting it to your adult child as a gift?

Purchase a shadowbox, they come in a variety of lengths, widths and wood grains. My favorite is cherry wood. You can find a great selection at your local craft store. Check your newspaper for coupons and most craft stores have weekly sales on frames.

Once you have your shadowbox, take it apart and set your dress on the felt back of the shadowbox to see how you’d like it displayed. A long dress can be folded nicely to fit into the box. Hats, and booties will fit, too. Move the pieces around until you find the position you like best. Once you have your dress and other pieces in place, secure them with straight pins. You won’t see the pins if you go underneath the material. After all your pinning is finished, put the back in place, and voila, a great display of your baby’s baptism outfit!

  1. I just love this idea. I have a friend who did something like this after her wedding...she had her bouquet, and invitation and some confetti from the reception...so pretty and so special! thanks for sharing.
