New Year’s Eve Tradition

New Year’s Eve is such a wonderful night. I think I like it more than Christmas Eve, because my children can actually enjoy it with their father and me. Christmas Eve we have to sequester ourselves in the game room to wrap the remaining gifts and the kids have to stay upstairs; so there isn’t much family time, until we have a snack and put the stockings under the tree. Yes, I still make my kids, who are 16 and 11 put stockings under the tree. I told them they’ll get stockings until I die they’ll ALWAYS be my babies. That’s what it’s like in MY world—they just have to deal with it. And when it comes time for girlfriends and wives, well, they’ll get stockings, too.

But back to New Year’s Eve. We go out shopping, well, the boys do the purchasing. They’re the ones with the money! Then we go to dinner. At dinner we talk about our year. I have a way to get them talking, and the next thing you know, we’re chatting about all kinds of things that happened throughout our year. It’s such a wonderful time. When it’s over, and for me, it’s always over way too fast, we go home and the kids and hubster watch some TV as I do laundry or other chores.

Finally I’ll put Dick Clark’s Rock’n Eve on when it’s about 15 seconds to the New Year then my husband will stand at the front door with our boys and I’ll stand at the back door. At midnight I open the back door to let out the old then I shut the door and my husband opens the front door to let in the new. After that, they start making all kinds of noise with pots and pans and whistles and such.

Letting out the old to let in the new has been a tradition I’ve done for years and not just on New Year’s Eve. I believe this helps us in other areas in our lives as well. Like cleaning our closets, garages, purses, even our wallets. You can apply this ideology to your thoughts, as well. Get rid of the old to let in the new.

Are you ready to let in some good new 2009 luck, thoughts, clothes—even money? Well, get ready! I believe 2009 is going to be a great year, and what we believe, we manifest.

 So, start believing.

 Happy New Year!
