Just Stuff It

You can stuff turkeys, but Thanksgiving is over.

You can stuff your face, and with Christmas right around the corner, and if you’re anything like me, you will be doing just that during Christmas dinner.

You can stuff dirty clothes in a hamper, unless you’re my kids, then you kinda miss the hamper and the clothes land NEAR it, or half in, half out, but more-so on the floor.

You can stuff cushions, which I SO need to do because I wore out the FLUFF in my stool from sitting on my ass so much.

You can stuff a stocking…

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care…

Except I don’t have a chimney, so my kids’ stockings are lying over the back of one of my living room chairs, where they’ll stay until Christmas Eve in anticipation of my boys going to sleep. You see, even though they don’t believe in Santa anymore, I still wait for them to fall asleep before I let my husband drag the gifts out of my closet and into the living room where I will neatly arrange them by the tree.

Then I stuff their stockings.

I buy all kinds of items for their stockings. Some fun, some practical. They actually expect certain things now, because one year I forgot to buy gum and my son was like, Where’s the gum balls!

You can make a stocking stuffing tradition too. Stuff the stockings with deodorant, body wash, gum, candy, ITunes cards, Chap Stick, vitamins, hair ties, make-up, pens, pencils or any little item your child might like. Depending on the size of the stocking, you can even stuff it with water bottles or other healthy items, like protein bars (my son's favorite!). Be creative and have fun, I sure do! And my kids do too.

My husband asked me once, When are you going to stop stuffing stockings?

“When I stop giving them Easter baskets,” I replied.

With furrowed brows, he informed me, “You said you would always give them baskets.”

“Exactly,” I told him.

My kids no longer live at home, but when they did, they had certain things they always expected too. Silly putty was a must.
